Hospital Building Safety Board
In November 2008, Joseph La Brie, Structural Engineer was appointed to serve as the Chairman of the Hospital Building Safety Board (HBSB). Joseph La Brie is the owner of Makeitright, Inc., a small hospital building design firm located in southern California. In January 2005, the director of the Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development (OSHPD) appointed La Brie a Member of the Hospital Building Safety Board (HBSB) and in January of 2007, Vice Chairman of the Board.
Now, as Chairman, La Brie has already begun work to organize the HBSB into committees that will work fervently to bring about forward motion in the efficiency and standards of safety in the hospital building design and construction industry. Already, there are plans for new committees who will devote themselves to pressing industry issues like AD HOC Humidification, standard details and the latest Code Ammendments. We will assuredly see outstanding results as the HBSB delves into the standardizing of code interpretation and many other pressing issues. La Brie is “ is excited to have the opportunity to serve as the Chair of such an exceptional board of his colleagues in order to improve the standard of safety in the industry.”
